It is not easy to work on and produce minimal art for it is difficult and could face many challenges. Limited use of color gives a challenge to an artist to produce a beautiful composition to meet a large canvas space. An artist must have a stronger and more creative mind, especially to produce a series of paintings for a solo exhibition.
In the past, many modern artists use the world ' minimal ' in producing their general works. This can be seen in works by Piet Mondrian, The Gray Tree (1912), Pablo Picasso in his masterpiece painting, Guernica and Jackson Pollock’s Autumn Rhythm (1957).
Many more famous artists or painters in the world had used limited colors and minimal approach in their works, so much so that makes trade mark to their works. Among them such as Franz Kline, Bernett Newman, Mark Tobey and Cy Twombly.
Looking at the latest works of Paula Lopez Moreno, remind me to the big names in the visual arts world that has been connected to minimalism arts.
Possible trials and hardships of life and maturity make Paula left her colorful works which she held to in the past. Now, Paula has chosen to work with less color to paint and restrict her works to minimal style.
Peace can be seen in this work:

White is painted as its main color of the work. But Paula used transparent color technique so that the paint work created space and composition on canvas. Clearly creativity is with Paula cleverly playing with color tones that can give a strong impact on the canvas. It is showing other space in the depth of more space on the canvas.
This can also be seen in this other piece:

It is also painted in white. Paula uses the characters in line size diversity and composition on the surface of the canvas. A slight reddish color is inserted so that it gives a little ' contrast ' to the work that can tempt the eyes of the audience.
This picture is quite different with other works from this series:

Still, the painting is painted in minimal-white, but quite a contrast with the color of the large dark area (black) to the left of the composition of the painting. A little bright blue color included in the composition makes this work more interesting and fresh.
So it is with other works:

Although they are small in size but they remain attractive and beautiful to be internalized. A little red and orange are included so that this work not confined on two contrast colors namely black and white only.
For my personal view, Paula is not actually drawing but expresses her thoughts and personal experience in a form of lines, space and color to the chest of her canvases. As was once said by a famous American painter Jackson Pollock: The modern artist is working with space and time, and expressing his feelings rather than illustrating.
Here Paula has found pride in herself in her creative work. Find what she pleases and who herself in – Pictures in white!
